Channel 4 Grand Designs fans have embarked on “Another Rich Couple Building a Mansion”

Grand Designs fans have denounced “another episode where a wealthy couple builds a mansion”.

It certainly doesn’t come cheap to turn an abandoned building into something worthy of a Kevin McCloud-branded outro.

But fans of the Channel 4 real estate show seem to be fed up with seeing “rich couples” still on the show after Wednesday’s episode.

One person tweeted: I have to say I prefer grand designs when a couple with 4 kids has $ 90,000 to build a house on the edge of a cliff. Rich people build mansions, it’s just kinda boring

Another said: “Every week I watch #GrandDesigns and every week I say to myself, well done the rich, you have built a very beautiful reception center.

A third responded: “I love #granddesigns but I watch every episode torn between love for amazing dream homes and the envy (/ hate) of the rich who build them.

“@Kevin_McCloud – is there a secret room in C4 with tapes of cut scenes where you lose your mind? – this is definitely something we would like to see.

Although it’s hard to imagine the calm Kevin getting angry.

While there was a wave of backlash, which is inevitable with any show, there was also praise for the episode which aired Wednesday night (September 29).

A couple have turned a South Downs property into an “Aquatic Eden” – as Kevin poetically put it.

One of them said: “Probably the most amazing @granddesigns ALREADY! Absolutely stunning.”

Another tweeted: “It was one of my favorite grand designs, I think.”

Even Radio One DJ Nick Grimshaw got involved in the action, tweeting, “Holy shit this house on Grand Designs with the pond @ Channel4 !!!”
